Food for the workaholics

Went exploring for new food places last week; the first was Chezcake Bistro which specialises in cheesecakes (made pretty obvious from the name) and it’s about three shops away from our office. The quiet and classy ambience makes it a great place for a brainstorming session or chilling out the evening away. I picked lamp shank stew, it came as a huge portion but with very little meat for more than $15. Might want to try out their green curry pasta cause it looked fabulous when my colleague had it. You know we should really stop eating the same things at the same place for five days a week when we’ve already moved to Joo Chiat for half a year and have never stepped into so many of the eateries on the same street..

Second was Barcelos at Nex where the group dropped by after work one day, though not my first time; second to be exact, thanks to the introduction by G. I still love the beef wrap and burger drowned in their unique tangy lemon sauce. People who’ve never had South African cuisine would surely appreciate this place, not to mention that they’re nicely furnished with beautiful wooden finishes, lamps and murals.

Bingo and Amy

Met these adorable new friends, a relative’s, on the same day so many people from the past came back in sight; which was ironically at a funeral of someone whom I’ve never really known.

I guess in life, the new and the old converge, all the time.

Friday night

1. The office is usually quiet on a Friday night, despite the unmistakable (and sometimes intolerable) karaoke voices drifting in from across the road as we are located along a district where night entertainment is prevalent. A huge rectangular clock was delivered that afternoon that announces time without numbers; “it’s nearly ten” it read, then the few of us were just sitting around with a couple of beers in hand and exchanging (embarrassing) funny stories from the past.

2. Reminds me of the time the girls went to the weekend flea market at Scape, then this other time I shopped in Vienna for the flower ring made of leather and discoloured metal. They’re beautiful.

3. Just like this pair of newly bought flats. The old fashioned floor tiles belong in our office too.
